Q. How can I identify the make & model of my product?

A.You can identify your toothbrush make and model by searching for a model number, a series name, or a picture by following the links below. The model number is usually located on the bottom of your product (look for a line similar to “Type 3731” on Braun products and “HX6910” on Philips products).

Once you verified your product type (model) number (i.e., “HX6910”) and know the product series name (i.e., “FlexCare”), search our products for the toothbrush series name “FlexCare” or browse store categories to find it and ensure the model number “HX610” is listed in the product description.

Finally, due to manufacturers occasionally fitting same model products with different batteries, you will want to open your toothbrush to verify the battery dimensions match with the one you intend to purchase. Battery dimensions are provided in product description. This mostly applies to Braun 9000, 9400, 9500, 4000, 4750 ProCare Triumph Series and 5000, 9900 ProCare Triumph Series with SmartGuide, as well as other similar models. Q. Can my rechargeable product be repaired?

A. There is a number of things which can cause premature product failure. There are some issues (i.e., battery failure) that can be fixed relatively easily while other require major involvement (i.e., PCB & unique parts replacement). In order to identify if your product can be repaired you need to know what is wrong with it. Below listed are most common symptoms causing the product’s malfunction and probability of its repair. This should help you to decide whether you want to get involved with repairing your product. Be advised that in most cases you will need to disassemble your product before you can make an assessment of its repairability.

  • The product gradually yields less and less working cycles after a full charge. Chance of repair is good unless visible signs of moisture/acid presence are revealed during inspection.
  • Moisture is getting inside the product through tears in buttons or cracks causing PCB malfunction and weird product behaviors. It sometimes causes the product to produce repeating non-standard beeps and led flashes. Chance of repair can range from good to non-repairable depending on the degree moisture affected the PCB and electronic components.
  • An old battery leaked acid that partially affected PCB and/or charging coil. Chance of repair can range from good to non-repairable depending on the degree acid affected the PCB and charging coil.
  • Loose / broken parts. Most parts can be reattached and replaced (subject to availability). Chance of repair is good. However, keep in mind that the product mechanisms can sustain additional hidden damage that may not be easily fixed.
  • The product works, but does not charge. Though rare, it is possible that your charger went bad. Try to place another working product in ti (i.e., a spare toothbrush if you have one) and see if it charges. If not, chances are you need a new charger. Other reasons could be the failure or the charging portion of the circuitry or the charging coil.

Q. Can I replace the battery myself?

A. Absolutely. However, we suggest you read the following note and other applicable sections of this F.A.Q. before attempting the repair. IMPORTANT: Your product user manual may state the batteries in it can not be replaced. Yet, we claim the opposite. Is this actually possible? Well, you CAN NOT replace the batteries in a sense that you can’t just pop up the cover and put the new batteries in as you would in your TV remote. The batteries in rechargeable toothbrushes and shavers are expected to last through the life of the product and therefore WERE NOT INTENDED to be replaced. However, when the battery fails before toothbrush life cycle is over there is a good cause for replacing the batteries even though it goes against the user manual. If for some reason you still doubt it can be done then please do not purchase our products or services. We will not refund your money because you tried and failed, and then read the manual and decided to request the refund because the manual says “the batteries are not replaceable”. Now, back to initial question. If you decide to replace the batteries yourself, please make sure:

  • You reviewed our repair guide and understood the repair process – click HERE
  • You have all the necessary tools and materials at hand
  • You have necessary experience and skills for completing this repair
  • You disassembled your product BEFORE purchasing the battery and inspected internal components for visible signs of moisture or acid; presence of moisture or acid decreases chances of successful repair.
  • if your product is 5+ years old it might be approaching the end of its life cycle and replacing the battery may not guarantee another 5 years of service simply because other parts may fail due to natural tear and wear; use common sense and do not expect from the product more than there is to it
  • based on our experience about 80% of failed toothbrushes have a good chance of being successfully repaired. Therefore, be ready for a possibility of unsuccessful outcome even though everything might look promising as not all issues can be identified by visual inspection. By attempting this repair you are taking risk and therefore should accept the possibility of loosing money if repair is unsuccessful.


Q. How to identify the battery positive and negative ends?

A.There is an easy way to identify positive and negative terminals. Take a close look at the battery and locate an indent going around one of the batteries ends. This indent always marks the positive (+) end (terminal) – see HERE. Additionally, the positive (+) end usually has a smaller metal area (cap) – see HERE as compared to the negative (-) end which usually has a larger metal area – see HERE. On a related note, if your battery came with protective plastics sleeve(s) on the tab(s) (narrow metal strips attached to both battery end) make sure to remove them before attempting to solder the battery to the PCB.

Q. How can I determine chances of my TB being successfully repaired?

A. There are two major causes for toothbrush (shaver, etc.) premature failure: PCB damage by acid leaking from the battery and PCB damage by moisture (water) getting in through cracks in seals and housing. Follow the below links to get an idea about whether your product is likely to be successfully repaired.

This product still has a good chance of repair, however, the buildup will need to be carefully removed from all solder points and specially from all microchips connectors before attempting repair.

Please keep in mind that the above pictures and comments provided for reference only. We have seeing instances where products seemingly beyond any hope of restoration were successfully repaired. Likewise, we also witnessed a number of cases where “perfect candidates” (meaning no signs of water or acid damage or any other visually identified issues) could not be repaired simply because they stopped working because of various other reasons.


Q. I installed new battery but the product still does not work correctly…

A. Try and do the following:

  • Check the PCB for moisture and acid signs. Your PCB may be partially affected by them and malfunction as a result of it. Desolder the battery and try to dry the product up and wipe any buildup on the PCB / contacts with a soft brush. However, it is also possible PCB sustained some damage and therefore needs to be replaced.
  • Verify if you soldered the battery on PCB properly (correct polarity) and if the contact points have enough solder applied to provide good connection between battery terminals and PCB circuits on both sides of the PCB.
  • Try to charge your product for 24 hrs or more. If the battery is heavily depleted it make take some time before it can power up the circuitry.
  • Make sure your charger is in working condition. See below for details.

Q. How do I check if my charger is working?

A.Unfortunately, there is no other easy way to check it as the charger emits very little EM field which is hard to measure unless you have the right tools and understand the technology behind the process. But not all is lost :). Below is a couple of suggestions you may want to consider.

  • If you have another electric rechargeable toothbrush, even if it’s a different model, try to place it on the charger (or as close to it as possible) for a FEW SECONDS (this will not damage TB or the charger) and see if charging led light comes up. This usually indicates the charger is probably OK.
  • Alternatively, you may want to visit one of your friends who has a similar rechargeable product. Take your charger with you and do a test described above with his / her product which you know is working.
  • Finally, you can visit a local store selling rechargeable products and ask if they can help you to test your charger as described above.

Q. My toothbrush was just repaired and recharged but gives only a few working cycles and then beeps as if it were depleted.

A. Be aware of false “full discharge” or “full charge” indicator. All rechargeable products have some way of telling that the battery is low (usually blinking lights and repeated tones) or it indicates that it is fully charged after leaving it on charger for less then 10 hours. However, in many cases the indicator may not be telling the truth as it gets “confused” by the newly installed battery. In fact, it is often possible to get out of the product several more working cycles even though the indicator says the battery is depleted. If this is your case then try to keep brushing despite the indicator signals (lights or beeps) until your product gets to the point when it actually stops before a full working cycle is completed. In the case when is shows “full charge” after you charged it over night, keep it charging for 24-48 hours otherwise you will only go through 5-10 brushing cycles instead of 20 or more. By doing this you will utilize full battery’s capacity and help the charging indicator to adjust accordingly. If the battery is heavily depleted or not fully charged it may take some time before it can power up the circuitry.

Q. I successfully repaired my toothbrush and it worked for 2 weeks (or up to three months) and now the battery is dead. What happened?

A. This does not usually happen if you did a good repair work. However, in some cases this issue may occur due to one or several reasons, such as: moisture getting inside the TB, bad soldering battery to PCB, tabs getting loose due to vibration, charging coil getting disconnected from PCB, electronics malfunction due to overheating during repair, etc.
To identify the problem, take your TB apart and inspect for signs of the issues listed above and address them as applicable. Make sure all the connections are firm and reliable. If there is moisture inside the TB it may cause PCB malfunction and potentially render the TB unusable. Take steps to dry the TB thoroughly and ensure it is re-sealed in a way that prevents moisture from getting inside.
It is very unlikely that the issue is caused by the defective battery as in that case the TB would not work to start with. We sell only high quality batteries we purchase from trusted US distributors who guarantee the batteries will last for at least 250 – 500 or more recharge cycles (5 – 10 years of normal TB use).
Finally, here is a good hint for you: if the TB worked well after you initially replaced the battery, but never worked after you tried to charge it – chances are your charger is blown or there are other things preventing proper battery charging. The reason the TB worked in the first place was because the battery we shipped had some charge in it to start with. However, if you were able to successfully recharge the TB several times but then it failed to charge / operate as expected – it is usually caused by the reasons mentioned above which are a result of the mistake(s) that were made while repairing the TB.

Q. Which battery technology is better: NiCd, NiMH, or Li-Ion?

A. In most situations it is best to use the type of the battery your toothbrush was originally fitted with. In some cases replacing your NiCd battery with similar NiMH battery may produce better results. However, NiCd or NiMH batteries can not be replaced with Li-Ion batteries. It’s not only useless but also dangerous: Li-Ion batteries may catch on fire or explode if not treated properly.

Q. What is the best way to charge my toothbrush?

A. There is no single opinion on the best way to charge your toothbrush. Your manual may say something different from what you will find here. Still, these are some suggestions based on real life experience of our customers.

  • NiCD battery: because this battery has a “memory effect” you may want to avoid keeping it on a charger at all times (which is contrary to what user manual suggests). Many customers reported their toothbrushes having much longer life when they used “full discharge – full recharge” approach.
  • NiMH battery: this battery usually performs up to 50% longer than NiCd and does not suffer from “memory effect”. Still, it is recommended to charge it using “full charge – full discharge” technique. Alternatively, you may fully discharge and then fully recharge your toothbrush at least once in two months or when you notice that the battery’s life has shortened.
  • Li-Ion battery: this battery does not suffer from “memory effect” and may be either kept on a charger at all times or charged using “full charge – full discharge” technique.

Q. My repair was not successful. Can I return the battery? Will I get refund for none-repairable TB?

A.To ensure 100% customer satisfaction we offer a 14 day return policy for all products for any reason. Please make sure to follow the below steps to allow for quick processing of your request.

  • An RMA (Returned Merchandise Authorization) must be obtained from us before returning any products to us. To request the RMA please use us an email with your name, transaction ID (see your original purchase email), and a brief reason for return.
  • The RMA request should be made within 14 days since the time of purchase. Once your request is received it will be reviewed within 3 business days and RMA issued as applicable. The buyer must ship the item back within 7 days since the RMA was provided.
  • A refund will be given in the same form the payment was received as follows:
    • 100% for all items proved to be defective or not as described.
    • 100% less 15% restocking fee for all other items.
  • If your TB was repaired by FixIt1Stop and it turned out that it is none-repairable – you will be offered 2 options:
    • 1. Ship TB back to you in the condition in came to us and offer you full refund, less $5 service fee and shipping and handling
    • 2. Recycle your TB and offer you full refund, less $5 service fee.
  • All items must be shipped back in original condition and packaging. Buyer is to cover all shipping & handling costs for returned products.
  • All items returned in non-original condition will not be refunded. Non-original condition means the items has been altered / attempted to install in toothbrush, shaver, etc.
  • As a common practice in the repaired / refurbished products industry, we offer a 30 days replacement warranty for performed services and replacement parts. However, should an issue arise shortly after the 30 days guarantee window we will make reasonable attempt to address the issue as applicable.
